Natalie Wood Folan - An Irish artist weaving visions of creative life
Natalie creates in order to reveal truths about the enchanting and mysterious aspects of the world around us. She seeks to turn over the mossy stones which hide near-forgotten depths of human experience and the connection with a higher nature. Through her art, Natalie seeks to create a new folklore.
Her background is a diverse one, ranging from US military linguistics, studying sociology in Scotland, apprenticing in award-winning flower shops, and teaching herself a vast manner of artistic mediums. In all this time, she has battled PTSD, a struggle which now brings mental health and self-expression to the fore of her work.
Through years of healing, relapse and re-healing, Natalie has learned to use her creative practice as a form of therapy and she explores themes of femininity, trauma, our intrinsic connection with Mother Nature, birth and rebirth in her art. Her work evolves alongside herself as she continues to battle PTSD, anxiety and depression, and learns to find her own voice, self acceptance and love.
Natalie has been active for only a few years, but her body of work already includes various commissions, product displays, custom logos and marketing design, and even hand-painted wedding invitations. When not in the studio, Natalie is found with her hands in the soil of her garden, delighting in the beauty of the seasons. She is inspired by natural themes - particularly flowers, folklore, medieval history, divine feminine power, and the small, intimate moments that make life all the richer.

Natalie is open for questions and comments about her work. She is currently closed for commissions, but is taking commission and collaboration inquiries for the Autumn 2024 season onward on a case-by-case basis. Please reach out for more details.
